Surgeries that deal with the movement of the muscles in the body are known as orthopedic surgeries. If a surgeon opts to use a procedure that does not require any type of actual surgeries but uses other methods, you will still end up seeing an orthopedic surgeon. Each surgeon will cover a different method depending on their training as well as their beliefs. One surgeon might feel that a less invasive surgery is going to be better for you where as another surgeon might feel like you will require that more invasive surgery. Here are some common orthopedic surgeries that are performed almost daily by surgeons.
Joint Replacement Surgeries
For a patient who suffers from a severe form of arthritis or who is limited on the movement of a joint as well as a decrease in motion of a joint, the surgeon will typically introduce the idea of joint replacement surgeries. Dr. Greg Finch believes that in many cases, the quality of life is almost fully restored when a surgery like this is performed on a patient who he believes to be a candidate for this type of procedure.
The surgery will require that the joints are reviewed and the areas that are damaged will be replaced with metal or plastic that has been shaped to the joint that is being restored, typically a surgery of the knee is where you will see this procedure being used the most at.
This type of procedure as you can imagine is actually quite painful. If the patient who is being seen is experiencing a large amount of pain in their shoulder, once the scans come back and the surgeon has reviewed them, typically a shoulder replacement is suggested. This procedure will allow for a patient to regain control of their shoulder muscles once the healing process is completed.
In this surgery, the shoulder is replaced with what is called a metal implant or plastic implant. It will help to restore the range of motion in the shoulder. Dr. Greg Finch is able to get nearly all his patients back to a full level of function after this surgery or as close to full motion as possible.
Dr. Greg Finch is well known for the spinal surgeries he is able to assist with. If you are experiencing back pain that may radiate to your lower body or that causes you to have a less quality of life than what you normally would have, he is able to help you regain control by performing a spine surgery.
Dr. Greg Finch has performed a number of surgeries where the spine was worked on and where patients were able to return to full function once the surgery has been done and when the recovery process and rehabilitation process has been completed.
