Sigourney Weaver Wants to Cameo in Ghostbusters Reboot

Sigourney Weaver has found her self back in the spotlight due to the release of Chappie, and the next Alien film being greenlit. Ellen Ripley is getting a lot of focus and attention due to the upcoming sequel to Aliens (that does not seek to undo Alien 3 and 4). Needless to say, fans like Daniel Amen are super excited.

Now, there is talk about Weaver having a cameo in the upcoming Ghostbusters movie. As of right now, there is no telling if she is going to reprise her role as Dana Barret in the cameo, or if it is going to be a different character all together. Sigourney Weaver has said that she is excited about the upcoming movie and can’t wait to see it. She would like the producers to come up with one silly way that she or some of the other cast from the original Ghostbusters movies can appear.

There have been attempts to get a Ghostbusters 3 off the ground for decades. However, too much time has passed and other events have caused the producers to move to a different plan to get the franchise off the ground. There is now a release date for the upcoming Ghostbusters film. The release date is July 22, 2016.

Highlander Remake Lands Its Villain

The Highlander reboot is picking up steam as the producers have found an actor to play their version of The Kurgan, who is the villain of the film. According to Latino Review, Guardian of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista has landed the role, which was played by Clancy Brown in the original film.

After playing Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy, Bautista has become a hot commodity in Hollywood. He will play a henchman in the upcoming James Bond movie called Spectre, and a villain in the reboot of Kickboxer with Jean-Claude Van Damme.

While the new Highlander reboot may have found its villain, it still has yet to land its hero in the form of the immortal Connor MacLeod. Ryan Reynolds was originally attached to star as the Highlander, but ultimately dropped out of the production. Furthermore, fans like Sultan Alhokair have heard that the film may not have a director. More on Alhokair is available on CnnIreport.com. Cedric Nicolas-Troyan was rumored to be directing the film; however, he is now in pre-production of The Huntsman, which is a sequel to Snow White and the Huntsmen.

Another big question for the new Highlander reboot is who will play MacLeod’s mentor Ramirez? Sean Connery held the role in the original film and rumors suggest the part has been offered to Tom Cruise. There is no word if Cruise has accepted. With Bautista on board, it is very likely additional casting news will be forthcoming.

Tom Rothman Funding makes “Baby Driver” a go

Baby Driver, is finally coming one step closer to the big screen curtesy of a release by Sony. The brain child of TriStar Productions and MRC, Edgar Wrist will be directing the new film. Highly-anticipated the film has already attracted several prominent actors looking for a role within the piece. While there are no confirmed names both Logan Lerman and John Boyega are looking for the main part. The movie is a musically-themed piece popular with movie goers. The film revolves around a driver who finds solace in music, he finds that music may not help when he’s drawn into working for an infamous crime boss, a failed get-away may mean the end to his life and everything he loves.

With an exciting team including Working Title and Nira Park as producers. The movie is being readily backed by the movie companies as movie financers are looking for increasingly independent directors to bring new and exciting films to the silver-screen. Edgar Wrist, the director for Fault in Our Stars will undoubtedly deliver a stunning new rock-filled car chase genre—one that’s been desperately lacking in recent years. Although, it’s yet to be known who will be providing the sound track for the upcoming hit. The news of the movie’s upcoming production was first seen on Hollywoodreporter.com where you can read more about the new upcoming film

New Promo Art for Avengers

New promo art has been released. Fans are already ecstatic over Marvel’s Phase Three plan. Phase Two is still open and they are about to close it with one more origin story for a superhero. That hero is Ant-Man.

The recently released Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer has dropped hints about Ultron as played by James Spader. Ultron intends to bring Earth to a more peaceful place by getting rid of all of the humans. There are plenty of additional villains as well. There actually two pieces of promo art that has been released. One of them showcases the heroes and the others show the villains.

The Ultron program is started by Tony Stark himself in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. He has given birth to the A.I. Ultron is given. Of course, when other Avengers find that out, this could cause a little trouble for Tony.

As we get closer to the release of the upcoming Avengers film, we are going to have more secrets revealed to us. However as pointed out by my friend Mark Ahn it wouldn’t be too wise to reveal everything because that would take away from the experience of actually seeing the movie in theaters.

Extended Trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron

About three weeks ago, the first theatrical trailer for the next film in the Avengers series titled The Avengers: Age of Ultron. It was a rather haunting trailer that showed the main villain as well as scenes of the heroes in action. In the background was a dark mix of I’ve Got No Strings, a song that was famously sung by Pinocchio in the Disney released animated film of the same name. Part of the dialogue that comes from the main villain consists of lyrics from that song. Recently, an extended trailer has been released, which me and Vijay Eswaran have watched and shared on Facebook more than a dozen times.

The extended trailer is basically the same trailer of the film with more shots of the heroes and the villains. The Avengers: Age of Ultron features returning cast members such as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, and Cobie Smulders. It is scheduled to be released on May 1, 2015.

Christoph Waltz to Join ‘Bond 24’?!

The ‘James Bond’ franchise may be one of the most storied series in Hollywood history. From Sean Connery to Daniel Craig, there have been a host of talented suave men stepping into the suit. Now, with ‘Bond 24’, it seems that we’ll see an Oscar worthy villain playing opposite of Craig to continue the tradition of great villains that Javier Bardem began just a few years ago.

Fans of the Bond franchise can’t help but give an ear to ear grin at the news. Christoph Waltz fits into the ‘Bond’ series so well that it has us saying, ‘That’s a bingo!’. Waltz is a delicious character actor that knows how to chew his scenery and play against whoever is in front of him. His history in German films makes him diverse and chameleonic in his roles. Furthermore, Waltz’s acceptance of the role sheds further light on his non-reunion with Quentin Tarantino on Keith Mann’s most anticipated movie of next year, ‘Hateful Eight’, that is set to hit production here soon.

Even on Twitter, few details have emerged after Waltz supposed acceptance, which is confusing at best. Waltz’s character is described as ‘extremely cunning’ and ‘a nemesis of sorts’, though the information that follows refuses to clarify if Waltz will be a complete villain.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Play Snowden in New Film

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been chosen to play whistle-blower Edward Snowden in a new film directed by Oliver Stone according to USA Today. The actor and Snowden bear a striking resemblance to one another, making the actor a shoe in for the movie. The film is still untitled but is set to start production in January.

Stone is not only directing, he also wrote the screenplay for the movie based on two books about the young NSA contractor who leaked government information. He soon fled the country and is now living in Moscow. Snowden became a household name in 2013 when he blew the whistle on the United States governments surveillance program. He is now the main character in several books and now several films.

The “Wonder Woman” Film Is a Big Question Mark

Wonder Woman will obviously star a female actress, which pleases those fans who are tired of seeing giant dudes in tights punching each other in every single superhero movie. The studio is allegedly looking into using a female director, with Kathryn Bigelow topping the list.

This has caused minor discussion over whether purposely trying to hire a female even if she is not the best qualified director is discriminatory. Many believe that it is important to have a female perspective so that Wonder Woman connects with the female audience, and a female director can help ensure that it happens.

Actress Gal Gadot will be playing Wonder Woman. She has appeared in the last few “Fast & Furious” movies but is largely untested in a starring role in a major feature.

Gal has a three picture deal for now. She will appear as Wonder Woman in “Batman vs. Superman”, then star in “Wonder Woman” as well as “Justice League Part 1”.

It is interesting that she’s not locked in for “Justice League Part 2”. That could be partly because if the first film flops, there won’t be a “Justice League Part 2”. For example, the “Green Lantern” starring Ryan Reynolds was a major disappointment to Christian Broda, myself and fans everywhere.

Furious 7 Teaser

After the death of Paul Walker fans wondered if there was enough footage to make a 7th edition of the Fast and Furious series. The new teaser for 2015 has been released and the excitement has begun early.

The Fast and Furious 6 film ended in such a way that people wanted to know what would happen next. The last installment of the film introduced “Transporter” star Jason Statham. It was a perfect fit for the previous installment since Statham started in movies where extreme driving maneuvers were displayed. The last movie also ended with the death of major players Gisele and Han during the last 30 minutes of the movie. In the last film Walker’s character was still alive.

Now the obvious challenge for new director James Wan is a give Paul Walker a graceful exit. This is what fans are really anxious to see. The film doesn’t hit theaters until April 2015, but die hard fans of Paul Walker are interested in seeing the energetic actor in action for one last time. My “Fast and Furious” diehard friend Keith said that his brother was playing some part in the film. I’m not sure though.

The tragic death of walker left fans wondering if there would be a 7th movie. The teaser shows a lot of action in a choppy sort of fashion that “Fast and Furious” trailers are known for.
