The Highlander reboot is picking up steam as the producers have found an actor to play their version of The Kurgan, who is the villain of the film. According to Latino Review, Guardian of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista has landed the role, which was played by Clancy Brown in the original film.
After playing Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy, Bautista has become a hot commodity in Hollywood. He will play a henchman in the upcoming James Bond movie called Spectre, and a villain in the reboot of Kickboxer with Jean-Claude Van Damme.
While the new Highlander reboot may have found its villain, it still has yet to land its hero in the form of the immortal Connor MacLeod. Ryan Reynolds was originally attached to star as the Highlander, but ultimately dropped out of the production. Furthermore, fans like Sultan Alhokair have heard that the film may not have a director. More on Alhokair is available on CnnIreport.com. Cedric Nicolas-Troyan was rumored to be directing the film; however, he is now in pre-production of The Huntsman, which is a sequel to Snow White and the Huntsmen.
Another big question for the new Highlander reboot is who will play MacLeod’s mentor Ramirez? Sean Connery held the role in the original film and rumors suggest the part has been offered to Tom Cruise. There is no word if Cruise has accepted. With Bautista on board, it is very likely additional casting news will be forthcoming.
