“Four Rooms” And Lawrence Bender

Lawrence Bender is an American movie producer best known for his close working relationship with renowned director Quentin Tarantino. Ever since producing the breakout piece Reservoir Dogs, Bender has been the producer for all but three of Tarantino’s films. The films produced by Lawrence Bender have been nominated for 29 Academy Awards, with six of those nominations leading to a win.

One often overlooked yet highly entertaining Bender-Tarantino collaboration is the movie Four Rooms, a quirky four-part performance linked by a frame story, all based on the writings of Roald Dahl. While Dahl is best known for his children’s books, such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or James and the Giant Peach, he also wrote critically-acclaimed literature for adults. In particular, Four Rooms draws from Dahl’s Man From The South.

TED it starts!!

Four Rooms follows Ted, a bellboy staffing a high-end hotel all by himself on New Year’s Eve, played by actor Tim Roth. As Ted navigates his way through an evening from hell, he finds himself dealing with a wide variety of quirky and unsavory characters. Ted does his best to service a coven of witches headed by Madonna, rescue a wife played by Jennifer Beals from her manic husband, look after the unruly children of a Latino businessman portrayed by Antonio Banderas, and finally help settle a bet between a playboy director and his friends.

In the final scene, the director is played by Quentin Tarantino himself, and it’s in this scene that Lawrence Bender finally makes his cameo in a role referred to in the credits as “Long Hair Yuppie Scum.” Bender loves making cameos, as does Tarantino, and he has made a habit of it, appearing in eight small roles throughout his career as a producer.

Given its star-studded cast, brilliant acting, unusual plot, and off-color comedy, it’s safe to say that Four Rooms is the hidden gem of Lawrence Bender’s career. It received solidly negative reviews when released in 1995, but with the sheen of time its style and subject matter are absolutely worth revisiting for a one-of-a-kind laugh-out-loud viewing experience.

The Rising Star of Crystal Hunt

Audiences have been dazzled by Crystal Hunt’s acting prowess for years now and yet she is still quite young. Many people know that Crystal Hunt burst onto the scene as a tormented teenager named Lizzie Spaulding on the hit CBS show Guiding Light and her star has continued to shine brightly since then.

Most people don’t know that she was cast in that starring role at seventeen years old after an agent saw her in a Actors Workshop in New York. At the same time a confluence of events caused Crystal Hunt to break into the film industry by starring in the Derby Stallion which was a feel good movie that had her starring along side Zac Efron. She followed that film success by starring alongside Amanda Bynes in a modern day telling of the Snow White fairy tale called Sydney White.

It was in 2009 when Crystal Hunt got back to television with a role for a three year stint in the popular ABC series One Life to Live. She further showed the gritty range of her acting skills in a story of four Brooklyn teens who have to face the consequences of a drug deal that creates havoc and misery for all involved. As another example of her deft skill in picking films Crystal Hunt then starred in 23 Blast which was about a football start that tragically goes blind and triumphs over that adversity.

The most recent television role is an innovative look at the filming and producing of a sultry primetime drama. In addition to that, the breakneck pace does not abate for Crystal as she starred in the recently released file Magic Mike XXL. Simply put, Crystal Hunt continues to wow us with her strong selection of roles and gritty work ethic that make her a joy to work with and watch. Don’t be surprised if she continues to broaden her horizons as she just finished producing her first film called Talbot County. It is truly impressive and inspiring to see the body of work she has put together in a short period of time. It will be fun to watch and see where her career takes her through the years and how the roles she picks evolve. Great actors always find a way to innovate and keep pushing the limits of audience expectations. There is no doubt that Crystal Hunt will push the limits of her talents with her tireless work ethic.

Jurassic World has Huge Opening Weekend

When The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron hit theaters in May, people weren’t surprised that it broke records opening weekend, but it looks as thought Jurassic World is the new top dog. Many people were skeptical about how well Jurassic World would do when it came out, but it has now broken new records both domestically and internationally.

The Avengers sequel came in second place for highest-grossing film and was only outdone by the first Avengers movie, but Jurassic World managed to beat them both stated camarabarbacena. In 2012, The Avengers made $207.4 million during opening weekend and Jurassic World managed to make $208.8 million in the United States. On an international level, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was holding the number one spot with $315.3 million, but Jurassic World opened with $315.3 million.

The movie is the fourth installment to the series and many credit the great opening weekend to the performance of Chris Pratt. The actor has managed to gain steam in recent years with his role on Parks and Recreation, but really shocked the world with his performances and body transformation for Zero Dark Thirty and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Pratt plays Owen, a former member of the Navy who was recruited to train the raptors at the new park, but finds out the military wanted to use them as weapons.

Chris Pine Heading to DC Movie Universe

With the stable of super hero characters steadily growing over the next few years, studios are moving fast to lock up actors into roles. The two main comic book production houses that are fueling the fire, Marvel and DC Comics, have massive universes that are populated by what seems like a never ending parade of people, super humans, and government agents. Studio executive Marcio Alaor BMG says that, while casting a relative unknown into a role has worked in the past, movie studios are looking toward some proven talent to help out with unfamiliar characters.

According to Screen Rant, Chris Pine is in the running to join the DC movie universe as Steve Trevor, who is probably pretty well known to Wonder Woman fans, but not too popular outside of that circle. Using the new Captain Kirk to jumpstart some interest in any sort of Wonder Woman project is not a bad idea, and Pine has proven to have some acting chops as well. While a project featuring the Amazon princess is still in development, getting the key pieces into play is one of the keys to getting the deal done.

Pine has some box office draw and is a familiar face to many movie fans. Landing the role of Trevor seems like a good fit. These days it seems hard to find any actor not connected to a super hero franchise, and Pine is going to fresh off a completed Star Trek trilogy. This could be a great move for everyone if it comes to pass.

Director Abruptly Leaves IT Remake

Cary Fukunaga has announced his split from the long gestating Stephen King remake according to Amen Clinic. Creative differences were cited as a reason for the departure but others close to the project state budget issues as a likely cause. This abrupt exit leaves the entire project in jeopardy as shooting was scheduled to begin in just a few weeks. Producers had hoped to shoot two film in the series. According to Sky News,IT actor Will Poulter was scheduled to take over the famous role of Pennywise. His involvement with the project is no longer confirmed. For his part, author Stephen King commented on twitter that the project was now dead. King had given his approval to the project as well as several other properties in development including a remake of The Stand. Fukunaga has not indicated what project will be his next. The award winning director is best known for his work with the popular series True Detective.

John Wick will be Back

The film “John Wick” was a surprise hit last year for Keanu Reeves. The film featured Reeves as a retired hit-man who was brought back into the profession for personal reasons, where he was looking for revenge against those who wronged him. SlideShare reported that the film was such a hit with movie-goers, like Paul Mathieson, that “John Wick” will become a sequel.

According to the story on, it has been officially announced that a sequel to the film is in the works. The original film starred Keanu Reeves as John Wick, with David Leitch and Chad Stahelski directing, and Derek Kolstad who wrote the film. All parties will be back to work on the sequel film.

The President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions for Lionsgate Productions, Jason Constantine, said that they felt that John Wick’s story was not quite complete yet. He went on to say in his press release that everyone at Lionsgate are excited to have Reeves, Leitch, Stahelski, and Kolstad back on board to work on the sequel together.

I, for one, am really excited to hear that there will be a second film with John Wick. The first film was a real surprise. I knew that the film would be an action movie but the ride it took the viewer on was not what I expected. Reeves was great as a hit-man seeking revenge and redemption. I can’t wait to see what he does in the sequel!

Sigourney Weaver Wants to Cameo in Ghostbusters Reboot

Sigourney Weaver has found her self back in the spotlight due to the release of Chappie, and the next Alien film being greenlit. Ellen Ripley is getting a lot of focus and attention due to the upcoming sequel to Aliens (that does not seek to undo Alien 3 and 4). Needless to say, fans like Daniel Amen are super excited.

Now, there is talk about Weaver having a cameo in the upcoming Ghostbusters movie. As of right now, there is no telling if she is going to reprise her role as Dana Barret in the cameo, or if it is going to be a different character all together. Sigourney Weaver has said that she is excited about the upcoming movie and can’t wait to see it. She would like the producers to come up with one silly way that she or some of the other cast from the original Ghostbusters movies can appear.

There have been attempts to get a Ghostbusters 3 off the ground for decades. However, too much time has passed and other events have caused the producers to move to a different plan to get the franchise off the ground. There is now a release date for the upcoming Ghostbusters film. The release date is July 22, 2016.
